Patricia Bransford
Patricia (Pat) Bransford is an accomplished visionary and philanthropist. As Founder and President of The National Urban Technology Center, she has devoted over 28 years to championing equal access to innovative educational services and technology for students, teachers, and parents in vulnerable, underserved communities. Under her leadership, Ms. Bransford has spearheaded groundbreaking initiatives in Computer Science, STEM, Social Emotional Learning, Bullying Prevention, and Financial Literacy, focusing on increasing participation by groups underrepresented in the technology field, including women and students of color.
With Pat's dedication and partnership with the U.S. Department of Justice, Urban Tech has established computer training centers in over 500 locations across the United States, benefiting nearly two million youth and adults with literacy, job training, and youth development programs.
Pat Bransford has a remarkable personal history of leadership and shattering barriers. Before her work with Urban Tech, Ms. Bransford excelled in executive-level positions at IBM for 25 years, where she led the development of technological solutions for government and education agencies.
As the first Black student in Washington, D.C.’s Catholic school system in 1948, she played a pivotal role in desegregating schools in the region.
Pat has a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Catholic University in Washington, D.C., and a Master’s Degree from New York University (NYU) Stern School of Business.
